Our Professionals
Melodi Southworth is our Conductor.
A fifth generation Cape Codder, Melodi grew up in Brewster quickly developing a love for singing after one rehearsal with the Junior Choir at the Brewster Baptist Church ! She attended the University of Massachusetts, as well as Cape Cod Community College, taking as many music courses as time would allow and earning a degree as a registered nurse, working in that field since 1980.
Passionate throughout the years about choral repertoire, Melodi has acted as a soloist/section leader in many churches. She has sung extensively in community choruses including the Chatham Chorale and the Chatham Chorale Chamber Singers under Marjorie Bennett Morley and Margaret Bossi, the New Cape Singers and the Fermata Opera Group with director Richard Busch and served as director of the Children's Choir at the Orleans Federated Church. She has been the choir director at the First Congregational Church of Yarmouth since 2002.
Melodi is the mother of three grown sons and the grandmother of four. In addition to music, her interests include animals of ALL kinds, literature and gardening.
Alexandra Paige is our Accompanist
Alexandra grew up in western Massachusetts, where she began piano lessons at age four. At age nine she accompanied soloists at church weddings. During her teen years, she studied piano with Ronald Hodges at Mount Holyoke College. She accompanied the high school choral group and was soloist in the jazz band. Alex attended Hartt College of Music where she studied with Raymond Hanson and Watson Morrison.
In 1989 she moved to Cape Cod where she and her husband raised four children. At that time she began her private piano practice, which she continues today. She is currently an organist at Holy Trinity Church in West Harwich, where she also directs the Youth Chorus. Recently she fulfilled one of her bucket list wishes by starting violin lessons and playing with Cape Cod Conservatory Seaside Strings Assemble. Alexandra is thrilled to become part of the Mid Cape Chorus Family.
